AMD SEMPRON vs CELERON 2.4 ghz

hi.. my name is anish.. i m planning to buy a motherboard and cpu for gaming purpose. But my budget is pretty low.. so want some advice from you people whether I should buy Sempron 2500 or celeron 2.4.. plz help.. ple tell me which mother board should i go for .. i want a motherboard with AGP slot .. HELP!!!!!!!!

Why would you want an AGP slot?
Get the Sempron, and one of the 6100 NForce motherboards...they come with onboard GeForce 6100 and sell for ~$60...and they will let you add a more powerful PCIe video card later when you can afford it.

Sempron all the way, especially with an Nforce3 board, easily can get to 2.2ghz on stock cooling.

Sempron 2500+ (AXP core) is more or less on par with the 2.4 Celeron (if it has 256K L2 cache).

Get a socket 754 Sempron. Do not get a socket A (462) Sempron.

It's quite likely that it is the K8 based Sempron 2500+ he is talking about, since the old Socket A 2500+ is pretty hard to find these days.
