AMD selling what next year ?

Hammer Production

"What is important is that AMD doesn't plan to make many Hammers over the next year, period. Even a year from now, desktop Hammer production will be less than 20% of a decent production quarter for Dresden today.?

What is AMD going to be selling? Hammers seem to be great performers, there is no reason why they shouldn?t sell as well as XP?s have. Is the Xp going to be brought down to 90nm ? if so what?s the point ? . The late xp?s (3000+,3200+) we lagging behind Intel top offerings at the time & AMD didn?t seem to want to push them past 2.2Ghz which is a huge bottleneck. I had the general feeling things were going well for the company but after reading this article it makes me think twice. After all this would be a great time for push forward, Intel and the presshot I mean presscot heat troubles, numbering system coming into play some time, fx-53, a64 3400+ winning most benchmarks.

Why are AMD holding back on hammer production well into next year?

Is there any point in bringing Xp?s down to 90 nm ?

What will AMD?s sales rely on ? If they don?t intend to make many hammers, chances are they wont sell many ( lol der)

amds plan is to drop to 90nm. they will make a new xp processor but it will be a a64 chip without the 64bit enabled so it should be a much better performing chip, should be exactly the same as current A64 chips when running 32bit.

the reason thier taking thier time moving too 90nm is because they can intel is having major issues with prescott, and AMD does not want to have the same problems when they move to 90nm. Also I beleave IBM will be fabing at least in the beging all of amds 90nm parts.

This is something I have been wondering as well..... X-bit had a rumor story talking about the next gen X-box incorporating a chip that IBM will fab. A lot of people thought... and apple.... nope IBM is fabing chips for AMD (an AMD 64???). Perhaps AMD is seeing the lite that it may be impossible to compete with intel's 100 (exagerated) fabs and will have companies like IBM knock out their chips while they design???? Don't know?
