AMD San Diego w/ MSI board

l guess my first question would be what motherboards can the San Diego's run on? Any 939? l currently have a +4000 Athlon 64 SanDiego core and having problems running in it on a MSI K8N Neo4 motherboard.... just built the system and have no posting at power on. (no display).

Should i change motherboards?

Thanks.

Possibly stupid question, but you have the 4 pin CPU power cord hooked up, yes? I gotta ask because I hooked up my Neo4 for some testing a short time ago and got no POST, then realized I'd forgot to plug that in...

😱

Yea, got it connected.. MSI tech asked me the same thing 🙂

MSI tech its probably was DOA and will need to return.

But if l'm getting a refund for it l was looking into the possiblities of another board... see everyone using DFLs?

Yeah yeah, DFI DFI DFI... what can I say 😉

Have you tried running with just 1 stick of RAM in the first slot (green, closest to the CPU)? It could be BIOS, but I got the board to boot with my SD running under BIOS 1.2 with 2 sticks installed in dual chan. Maybe try resetting CMOS too, sometimes that helps if somehow an unfavorable setting is stuck in there.

Oh, and make sure no USB devices are plugged in - there's a known issue with that.

Should a motherboard that runs a Athlon 64 / FX 939 be able to run all core versions? san diego, clawhammer, etc...

I have no problems with Venice on my MSI board. I will check my BIOS version when I get home. I am at work atm.
