AMD Ryzen (Summit Ridge) Benchmarks Thread (use new thread)

OrangeKhrush: I bought my 5960x/Asus Rampage V mb and memory combo on 3/4/15 and have never looked back. Still a rock solid incredible OCer (mine is custom water cooled). I suspect prices will plummet for 5960x/6900 chips now that Ryzen 1800x is arriving.

BTW: I already have the case, ssd, ram etc for a 1800x/Asus Crossfie VI build. It will be all AMD cpu/gpu with my pairing of 2 Sapphire Reference RX480-8G in CF.

It will be custom water cooled (EK supremacy EVO cpu blk with AM4 adapter) and after shakedown I'm going to go head to head with my 4.4Ghz 5960x rig. Should be fun.

Looks like hats off to the AMD engineering team from a guy who "upped" his Intel 386/33DX to that AMD "hot rod" 386/40!

Yep, around 10% slower clock for clock than Ryzen in Multihreaded R15 test ( Ryzen has 10% higher SMT yield).

If true, this still doesn't invalidate my point. You need to watch for review and look to gaming performance. That would be your answer. Looking at a syntetic benchmarks ro check ST performance won't give you a reliable one, as games are not ST.

I think we just misunderstood each other. Of course ultimately gaming benchmarks decide but show me a gaming benchmark were the 7700k or 6700k do not win or were a 6+ core CPU actually beats them. You can count those on 1 hand. Only one that comes to mind is BF1. But that's single-player only.

It will be REALLY interesting to see what route AMD took (I expect we will get some solid details on this with the launch-day reviews).

I would like to see something run with a large dataset using one of the core configs you mentioned, like . . . I dunno, y-cruncher 2g or whatever.

Intel is done. Happy days indeed.

Let's not embellish. Intel will be fine. They'll have some awkward quarters until they right the ship in 2018 with Icelake. Coffeelake may or may not put them in a better position.

Prices seem to be low for the leaked performance. It looks like AMD could easily go considerably higher on prices.

You know there will be 8T and 12T Ryzen SKUs, right? All unlocked. 8T are even rated at 65W @ stock with 3.9Ghz max ST boost plus likely 100Mhz or so more via XFR. I expect that manual OCing could net ~10% more over 4Ghz so around 4.3-4.4Ghz on great air cooling or AIO WC. Suddenly you have 4790K like performance in games which is where you become to see diminishing returns. 8T KL @ 5Ghz will def. be somewhat better performer in gaming but at what cost?

AMD needs to get zen+ (2000X and above) out early 2018 to counter coffee lake.
