Assuming you're just upgrading on AM4, Newegg will have CPU+RAM for Black Friday:

Black Friday starts earlier every year because retailers are scared you'll spend all your money at Amazon, from the 21st.
So this deal is already live now.

That's a pretty good deal for the CPU, I bought one to replace the 3700x on my Asrock B550M Pro4 mATX mobo. Asrock's support page for the motherboard has VRM cautions for anything over 65W CPUs so this works out for me and I can re-use my existing AMD Wraith Prism cooler. I do a lot of audio / video encoding plus I play around with AI image generation on this PC so I'll probably see a small boost in performance with the upgrade.

I bought Noctua NT-H2 thermal paste, is that ok? I haven't researched thermal paste in a few years and it gets good reviews online.

Maybe deserves its own thread, but BF deals are starting to drop. Above are good deals for AM4 upgraders, but I wouldn't do a brand new build on an old platform unless the budget was extremely tight.

Instead, Newegg has a good DIY combo, and with the free SSD the price is compelling for a budget build. Typically, these promos with a free item don't stay in stock very long.

That's an ok combo, no heatsink / fan included.

5700X3D $133.40 new, no cooler, + tax, after $20 Black Friday coupon shown on item page: USBF20
Free shipping from China. New via AliExpress.

Look for stores which have sold 5000+, like SZCPU. Several stores have a similar after coupon price. AliExpress BF Coupons went live at 3AM.

Also available from Microcenter in store only $180.

Nice upgrade for the main rig, and have an empty Asrock B550 just waiting for the old 3600XT cpu.
