Ok, you might want to install the OS cleanly, and also check the PCIe settings in the BIOS.
Also check the RAM DOCP settings.

I dont know how PCIe is configured on ASUS B550, I have a Gigabyte X570 board. Someone will have.

All of that stuff is correct in the bios. Is my 5800X really just giving me less performance than my overclocked 4790k? My 5800X boosts to 4850 MHz all-core on stock settings with the high performance windows power profile. It's also running at 2100 MHz FCLK with my RAM at 4200 MHz CL16. All voltages are at default. Maybe 3DMark just needs an update?

5800X is on par if not faster than latest Intel Core i9 @5.3 GHz. So the performance of the processor should not be an issue.

Regarding voltage, dont worry it is default Ryzen boost behavior.
The voltage is requested voltage and what is applied to the core is lesser than that. And during boost Ryzen calculate what voltage is safe for the core. It is normal to see spikes like those. If you dont like it, you can add negative voltage offset but you might lose some ST performance.
However, when manual overclocking don't provide such voltage.

Try to install AMD chipset driver, it could help with PCIe compatibility. Clean windows install is also better to be done if you have not done already.

Thank you. I've already done a clean install of windows and all of the latest drivers. It doesn't make sense. I was getting around 31800 gpu score on my Z97 and 4790K with 2400MHz CL10 RAM. With my 5800X and B550 with 4200MHz CL16 RAM I'm getting slightly above 30000 gpu score.

I think at this memory clock the Infinity fabric is not working in 1:1 mode.
I dont have a Zen3 sample yet to confirm. Mine is arriving in couple of days.
If possible you could experiment dropping the RAM to 3800MHz and tighten the Latency instead. e.g. 3800CL15 or if possible 3800CL14.

I am not planning to run 4000MHz+ kits for my CPU. I would run 3800 or 3866 with lower latencies. (Problem though is that I have not been able to find 2x16GB kits with these specs)

Technically, Finns aren't Scandanavian . . .

All-core OC on my new 5600X does 4.6GHz @ 1.224v and 4.7GHz @ 1.328v. My place holder 3600 does 4.2GHz @ 1.296v (Increasing to 4.3GHz seemed like it needed 1.325v+ so I didn't bother).

Impressive jump with respect to clocks and IPC. I'll leave it at 4.6GHz since that seems like the sweet spot for vcore and temps.

What's the comparison in power consumption between the 5600X and 3600 at those speeds/voltages?

It's ok, Finns often get lumped together with the Scandinavian three (Danes,Swedes,Norwegians). The term you are looking for is "Nordics" and includes all 4 as well as Iceland.

I ordered a 5900X right away from a big store over here (jimms.fi) that had day 1 availability but it took several minutes for my order to be processed and when it went through all stock was gone.I am on backorder. The fact that Ryzen 5000 is an upgrade for every PC user out there, really does not help with availability I must say.

I'm also having issues with my 1080 Ti and my 5800X build. My FireStrike gpu score is lower than with my old 4790K build. I'm curious to know what your issues are with the 1080 Ti.
Won’t post with the 1080 Ti in, I had to swap in a Radeon 280 for the time being, so no useful GPU benchmarks until things get set up properly.

I didn’t check unfortunately. My Kill-a-watt meter is buried somewhere in my garage and I was just too excited. My last computer build was about 3.5 years ago when the 1700 was released (I’ve been using laptops since giving that system to my kid).

Ordered for pick up a 5900X on launch day with confirmation receipt sent. Got to the store and they were out of stock and told I was on backorder. Settled for a 5800X in the end and picked up a x570 Tomahawk too. Store flashed the bios for me. Just waiting for AIO and Memory which should be delivered next week some point. Based on the local store saying over 20 people were camped out since the midnight before for Ryzen launch I really hope I can score a 6800XT on launch now but serious doubts...

Just 1h of playing with CPU, no memory optimizations, no per core tweaks and voltage not dialed-in yet.
My 3900XT on the charts was ran at 4500 CCX0 and 4300CCX1.
I can do ST 4.9GHz with 1.33V on core 3 CCX0, but haven't tried for 5GHz yet :p

Fun CPU to play with and Precision Overdrive is quite good too!
I set EDC and TDC to minimum (45W) and ran CB R20. To my shock and disbelief, I scored around 5800 points which is the same as my old, overclocked and tweaked Threadripper 1920X which was consuming more than 180W for that run :eek:

It has the same effect with dual rank vs single rank. It's why I have a 4x8GB set of Samsung B-die for benchmarking, but use 2x16GB Micron E-die for daily usage. YMMV whether 2 sticks DR or 4 sticks SR are better since motherboards use different topology for their 4x RAM slots, but 3600 CL16 or better is easy with these chips and they are cheap.

I plan to pick up a 5000 series chip when availability is better. Likely 5900X or 5950X.

Really curious how X570 + 5000 series chips do with 4x16GB Micron E-die. I don't need more than 32GB yet for my workflows but having the ability to add in my second set of E-die down the road would really future-proof my znver3 build.

Same for me, 32GB is enough. Although I would love 64 GB, they seem to have much lower speeds.
I am getting these Trident Z Neo sticks for my 5950X. I checked the 3800C14 they are always out of stock and almost 500+ EUR.
Better subtimings than my current Trident Z RGB 3600C16 4x8 GB sticks on my 3900X.

Damn, that's a great score. My 3900x all core 4.4 OC barely hits 7500. Pretty insane uplift from just one generation.

Small update after tweaking memory and Infinity Fabric:

Same clocks, just IF bumped to 1900MHz but I had to loosen timings to CL18.
Striking difference in OpenGL test of CB15 compared to Ryzen 3900XT! 224FPS vs 275FPS best vs best :O

New AIDA is not directly comparable, so bear that in mind.
What motherboard are you using?

I went with this kit myself after watching the review as well as the comment about Wendel's testing. The performance difference was minimal between speeds over 3200 and figured that CL14 would give me overhead.
