Has AMD commented about availability of the new 5000 series processors? Should it be better than the last time?

Here in Czechia at launch only 1 retailer had them in stock, 5950X and 5900X went quickly, 5800X and 5600X held a little bit longer but in about half an hour all were gone. None to be seen anywhere now.

Managed to get a 5600x this morning finally at Microcenter, so off to get latest bios & play. I managed to snag one of the last 5600x.
At open they had:
>25 5600x
25 5800x
23 5900x
The 5900x were sold out before I got to counter (I was around 50th in line), the 5800's were still almost untouched, they still had cage full of about 20 5800's when I left.

Also, for comparison, they had 2x RTX 3080's at open which were gone immediately, and about 5 3090's which sold out as well before I got to counter, for their daily restock. No 6800 series this day.

Local MC is already out of 5600x but has 1 5900x and 25+ 5800x right now.

Gah! If only it were my local store. I drove down this morning before they opened and there was already a line. Once they opened, they had nothing in stock (Ryzen 5000, AMD 6000, or Nvidia 3000) and only one voucher a guy had picked up yesterday. This is getting ridiculous.

Which store was that?

Houston Micro Center. If want a 5800x, there might still be a few there

There's a trick on microcenters site to find any stores in stock.

Click store button at top, select change and select shippable items.

Then go into the item you want (5900X is what I just selected).

There will be an orange box you can pull down a list of stores and it will say out of stock or in stock.

Using this, I can see that Rockville Maryland has 5900X stock - 5 at the moment.

Might be useful if you have family in different states.

Genius, thank you. My business partner is in GA between the two locations there. I haven't yet had to beg him (and with COVID I probably wouldn't now) but this is a great trick :D

Was reading through this thread today as I have been on the hunt for a 5900x to replace my 8700k build, saw this post by UsandThem:

This happens every single time. Demand outstrips supply. A good portion of what is sold go to scalpers to flip for the first 30-60 days. Supplies eventually catch up as resell price falls, and then people can buy them.

I have to agree. I remember when the 8700k launched in 2017 - it took over 2 months before stock was readily available and it was this time of year too. Newegg was charging a premium after a month - they added another $50.

I don't have any numbers to back it up, but just browsing reddit and multiple enthusiast forums I see a lot of people have gotten their hands on these new Ryzens already, so I don't think the stock situation is really all that terrible for being only 2 and a half weeks in.

I have a few vacation days coming up and there's a Microcenter 30min away. Will probably drop the wife off at work and make my way up there to see if I can snag one too. Happy hunting folks, I'm loving the advancements we are seeing lately.

Maybe it doesn't matter right now because of early adopters, etc but I think AMD is going to have to move on their price for the 5800x once inventory is more readily available. Between no cooler vs 5600x and minimal benefit to the two extra cores unless you have a specific workload that needs them, it's going to be a hard sell that those two extra cores are worth a $150 premium plus a cooler.

The 3800x was also kind of stuck in the middle of nowhere, between the 3700x and 3900x. This time, AMD is getting some early adopter tax with Ryzen 5, by delaying the 5700x and the 5600. I assume that AMD will release the 5700x and 5600 once they stop selling everything almost instantly.

I gave up and got a 3700x on sale for $280 today. Does that seem reasonable compared to $300 for the 5600x? I do not game.

With mobo/cpu/memory all on sale it seemed like time to move. I bought the case last May!

Found a super nice guy on Discord who was down at our local MC when 15 Asus Tuf 3080s showed up. He held a few for everyone he could so I drove down as fast as I could and it was waiting up front for me. Not thinking I'd actually have any luck, I asked at the hardware counter if they had any Ryzen 3s in stock. The rep said they only had 5800Xs which I wasn't super excited about (1st choice was a 5900X). Then another rep piped up that someone had just returned a 5950X and I decided YOLO and bought it. Super stoked to find two unicorns in one night and glad I don't have to camp out Thursday night to try and find something.
