It took a couple of hours but I eventually got the confirmation email. I'm very happy to be getting this CPU, I'm hoping it lasts me a good long while.
Congrats! AMD was quick to ship mine. I had it two days before they said I would get it.

I cannot reference it off hand, but I thought the unofficial word for good Zen3 supply was July / August?

Does anyone else recall coming across that information in the past few months?

I ordered a 5900X in November 2020 at a large wholesaler who keeps offering the CPUs at SRP since the official launch, at the same time their backorder at AMD kept increasing to well over 5000 units. Since my order in November the well known German retailer "Mindfactory" kept selling the 5900X starting at about 100 EUR (+VAT) above SRP. Sometimes they would raise the price shortly before selling out, but once a new shipment arrived their price went down to said +100 EUR again. Meanwhile all other retailer asked for considerably higher prices.

Sometimes Mindfactory would have CPUs for a whole week in stock with prices changing slightly up and down +-20 EUR. Then they were sold out again just to get new units two weeks later.

Two weeks ago I gave up on my November order, especially since the wholesaler's salesperson told me that they don't expect shipment before the end of 2021. I then bought the 5900X at +100 EUR (+VAT) from Mindfactory, but only build it in two weeks later. Turned out that this time the CPU did not sell out within a week and thus the price dropped another 34 EUR (+VAT). Bad luck for me, but I really had to get the CPU now to work with it and finally try if the MSI X570 Creation mainboard I also bought 5 months ago is even working.

Well, availability came around for the CPU, but it makes little sense to put everything into motion without a new GPU as well.

I gave up and ordered an Alienware with a 3080. I'm going to take the card and sell the rest of the system to my brother. Ordered on 4/20 and it gets here Wednesday. Built the rest of my 5950x system a couple of weeks ago.

How much did that set you back?

Less than the cost of a 3080 on eBay! ;) I think the system price was $2000 so once I sell the rest to my brother, I would've paid around $1300 for the card. I'm perfectly fine with that price at this stage. I nearly went with the 3090 but decided it wasn't worth the premium.

Well Microcenter in St. Davids Pa seems to have solved their 5900X stock issues. Price is $699.99 with 25+ in stock. They did this before but only had it at that price for a few hours. Two days and holding now at that price. Better them than the scalpers getting the extra money I suppose?

Same for the Detroit location, and I noticed aaawave.com upped the 5900X, looks like $700 is the new $549.99.

I wonder if AMD ok'd the price hike until a massive shipment hits, with that massive shipment arriving in the next few weeks.

Maybe these units were stuck in the Suez Canal?

I am ready to just get a used 5900X next year

Interesting. How long did it take to get the system ordered and shipped? I had heard systems like that were on months-long backorder.

Microcenter usually has the lowest prices for most items. I was able to get a new 5900x from a reseller at @$750.00 back in late December when none were available.

One poster called me out about supporting scalpers but I have had this cpu now for almost a half year and despite a few 5900xs appearing at the original MSRP sporadically, most 5900xs for sale are in the high 600 to mid 700 dollar range.

Over time that price will come down but I think the tariff tax AND very high demand will keep the price elevated to MCs $699.

Had the same experience with acquiring my RX6800. Paid a similar premium but got it in early January and the price of the 6000 series cards has exploded. Meanwhile I have enjoyed this card. Not a 6900xt BUT really shines in gaming compared to my Radeon VII.

So, I ordered on 4/20. I was originally quoted a delivery of June 9th (the 3090 would've been about 3 weeks faster) and then on Friday, got an email that it had shipped. FedEx says it will be here tomorrow. My understanding is that the Alienware cards are MSI reference designs. I would've preferred an EVGA FTW for either the 3080 or 3090, but I was tired of waiting and I don't have time to camp drops. Worst case is that if I win a Newegg Shuffle or stumble upon an EVGA or a 3080 Ti out of blind luck, my brother said he would buy the Alienware 3080 from me.

I configured one of their Ryzen systems with the most minimal specs possible (5600X, 8 GB of RAM, 1 TB spinner) to get the 3080. They do make you upgrade to the 1000 W PSU, which is unfortunate, but still way cheaper than getting scalped on eBay especially since my brother wanted a new system and it will be perfect for him. I'm giving him extra RAM and may an extra SSD too.

Saw that as well (in Illinois). Not sure how I feel about it. Typically Microcenter was known to sell below MSRP , them scalping is rather unusual. Pass from me and good luck to those who need it.

amd.com has the 5600x currently in stock. It looks like they've changed the add to cart as it not pops up a I'm not a robot captcha. It was the only offering in stock when I just looked.

This morning I happened upon the AMD store site and they had multiple cpu's in stock. I clicked the buy button on the 5950x but could never get past the "I'm not a robot" dialog box.  Turns out they're sold out of everything so it was a bust.

Microcenter in GA has 25+ 5950X in stock.

AMD.com has the 5600X.

If you ordered on ShopBLT, apparently AMD has told them the 15th of this month.

EDIT: don’t bother ordering from ShopBLT, they are getting like 9,000 units and have almost 13,000 preorders to fill.

Overland Park, KS Micro Center has lots of 5900X and 5950X at MSRP at the moment. Dropped the price of the 5600X back to MSRP as well.
