QUANTITIES OF AMD'S Opteron microprocessors have already become available through large US distributors for system integrators to buy, a week ahead of the official launch on the 22nd of April.

The distributor price for the Model 240 is $275, for the 242 $670, but the 244 won't be available through the channel until May. The OSA240BOX system, which AMD calls a "processor in a box", will cost $295, while the OSA242BOX will cost $690.

Yea, I think their launch would be a lot more succesfull if some of the review sites had em already.
Actually, they probably do, they just aren't allowed to publish yet.

Johan over at Aces Hardware has indicated that he is currently testing a dual Opteron system (and a simular dual Xeon system) and hopes to have an article written to be published on the 22nd. He did not say that directly but it was obvious from what he said (like he mentioned having some very fast dual systems that he can only start talking about on the 22nd)

So I think it's very likely that more review sites already have Opteron systems and are already running bechmarks on them.

Why would they? Opteron is squarely focused on the enterprise market. From all indications the motherboards don't have AGP slots, why would any gamer want one then? Dual Opteron and PCI Geforce4 MX, there's a potent gaming combo...

Who said they were? I didn't. Anand limits his "enterprise" reviews to products they actually use and is not in the same category as Ace's.
