Related: Do you believe AMD could be releasing future GDDR5 SO-DIMMS for Kaveri APUs as some posters comment on the AT news?
AMD doesn't actually make their memory. So the only way that can happen is if someone else does it first.

Ok, it is made by AMD memory partners. I was really asking if someone know some rumour about if this will happen or if there exists some technical limitation which they couldn't.

Rebadged Patriot Signature RAM. Nothing magical about it.

I know for their Entertainment RAM they used Patriot. So it's probably still Patriot. I'm not sure Patriot makes their own RAM either, actually, so the actual memory maker can vary.

To be honest, the picture looks like a GSkill PCB.

It is a 16 GB kit @ 2133 and CAS10 low profile

Would improve performance of FX OC chips when compared to similar XMP kits? Or not?
In short, no. This is basically AMD's way of telling us what we already know. Faster frequency memory will yield faster performance when using their APU's for gaming. Instead of coming out and saying it, they rather brand their own memory to make a profit. To guru's like us, we just buy the even better memory from Newegg for cheaper. I personally would go with these or whatever the motherboard can hold at its limit. Who needs more than 8GB when most games are compiled with 32bit windows compilers (restricted to 4GB limit), and the other 4GB is more than enough to feed the iGPU.

With Samsung being part of the whole HSA operation, I imagine AMD will turn to Samsung to produce the memory for their particular needs. In which would be excellent as Samsung has and makes the best memory that's available on the desktop market imo (30nm wonder ram). By the time Kaveri launches, we should see 20nm DDR3 from Samsung. If their desktop memory manufacturing process is that good, they should be fine for supplying GDDR5 chips.

Edit: Would be nice to see some Samsung "Green GDDR5" hit the market if GDDR5 is a viable option for Kaveri.

Any reason why Samsung 30nm RAM is "discontinued" on Newegg and everywhere else I've looked? Is there a new SKU or something?? E.g., http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147096

No clue as to why, they seem to be very few in supply with their eco memory. I was able to snag up a pack of the 2 x 2GB "wonder ram" last year. I have mine sitting comfortably at 1600 @ 8-8-8-20 on 1.30v (stock 1600 @ 11-11-11-30 on 1.35v). Some pretty darn impressive stuff, last time I looked they were outlining their 20nm memory manufacturing process. They could of reverted their resources to making their 830 and 840 SSD's. Samsung announced their 20nm DRAM chips less than a couple weeks ago. All I know is if they come out with 20nm packages of DDR3/4 people best grab them while they can. :sneaky:

155$ for 16GB DDR3 2133 at 1.65V.

How many are dumb enough to fall for that, when there are plenty of better alternatives.

Not at all. And they had to use APUs to show a benefit worthwhile anyones notice.

As other have commented. AMD simply takes someone else memory and put a new sticker on it. So the short answer would be no.

Dataram doesn't make RAM either; they're a virtual reseller like AMD. The only thing they make is software (the RAMDisk software AMD distributes). Look farther up the chain and I'm sure it's actually Patriot making the RAM.

How do you know that? What is your info? I have checked their website and they present themselves as manufacturer

http://corporate.dataram.com/company-info/overview-and-value-prop

http://corporate.dataram.com/company-info/certifications

I found that they also offer

http://memory.dataram.com/solutions/custom-design-and-manufacturing

Maybe they could be the company designing and manufacturing GDDR5 system memory for the future APUs

Check out this BS from AMD's memory page

Adjust your CAS latency and experience the ability to jump from one application to the next with virtually no delay

Wow, yeah I can notice that 1 nanosecond difference in memory speed, can't you?!
