I've been searching for a solution to this for days, and I'm at a loss...

I just did a fresh install of the latest hotfix drivers from AMD, and I ran the cleanup utility beforehand. All of the drivers seem to install fine but I cannot open the AMD Radeon Settings app. It's maddening... all i get is the error that I've attached for your enjoyment.

That's all that happens I'm afraid... can't figure it out.

This is with Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit w/ SP1 and a R9 290X. The card is healthy as I just upgraded from an older driver set which worked fine. I've tried running the program as and admin and all that jazz and it still doesn't open. I even uninstalled GPU Tweak and updated the redistribute packages for C++ since MSVCR120.dll is mentioned.

Other than that I have no information. Any ideas as to why this is happening?

If it is that dll, then you can check with dependencywalker (http://www.dependencywalker.com/ get x64 version) to see if dll is not found by crimson cnext.exe. Just open dependencywalker then open crimson exe (ex. c:\program files\amd\cnext\cnext\CNEXT.EXE). If you get a yellow question mark symbol next to that dll then crimson can't find dll in expected path (should be c:\windows\system32\MSVCP120dll).

Did you use DDU or a different program for uninstalling the driver?

I did not use DDU or any other software aside from the amd cleanup utility to remove the drivers.

I checked both system32 and sysWOW64 folders and the .dll file was present in both locations.

I am not sure why it wouldn't open but I reinstalled service pack 1 from the following link and it worked.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=5842

checked off the windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe to download

I did back up my entire disk before installing it just in case I had to revert back but it opens just fine now. I can't really explain it. Thanks for the input though.
