It is worth mentioning that running in a window did hurt framerate as compared to running the game full screen. AMD has pushed the fact that their new hardware is capable of fully accelerating windowed 3D based on how it manages clock speed with respect to work load, so we aren't quite sure why we are seeing this behavior. The important thing is that gamers no longer need to disable secondary monitors in order to play their games with a multiGPU solution.

I have ASUS 3870X2.

If I install original ASUS Catalyst 8.1 and driver that came with the card I can notice that card works at maximum freq. all the time and my windowed games are fully accelerated.

However, installing Catalyst 8.1 makes my card work at half the freq. in window mode and desktop.

Well, there is a drawback to ASUS drivers: as card works at full all the time, it tends to heat up more than 45°C on 20% vent speed. Manually setting to 30% keeps it below 45°C, but when it's loaded it heats up and you need to do something about the vent.

There is fan control but automatic puts it on 20% or 40%+.
30% is still quiet and 40% tends to make some more noise. Strangely enough, 30% is ideal for desktop work while 20% (the only option before 40% on auto fan speed) is too slow and card heats up.
