I am looking for a 2600 - 3000 amd processor. Pricewatch says there's a diff between 333 fsb and others....There's another listed as "quantumspeed architecture." Don't know the difference but the QSA seems more expensive by a few $$.

Help please. If this helps, I'm gonna get a gigabyte 7n400 pro with ddr400 ram and other stuff.

Thanks,

i believe all XP chips have QSA. it is the architecture that allow a 2.0 Ghz Cpu to perform like a 2400+, etc...

personally, in your range, i would get the 2600+ or 2700+

I say Barton 2500 too. I have one and its running at a 2800 with stock cooling.

Thx for the reply. However, should I get one that specifically says "fsb 333"???

Thanks again,

All of the CPUs in the range you're considering are either 333MHz or 400MHz FSB, except for the oddball 2600+ variant that runs a 266MHz bus, so it's really a choice between 333 or 400. You're not likely to find a 2600+ at the 266MHz bus speed (pretty rare now).

Got a pretty good-quality power supply lined up to run that on?

Yes, Vantec whisper, 450w. It seems to run pretty well. I just reduced my HD's from 6 to 3 so there should be plenty of juice. I also have the Zalman cn6000 something or other to cool the cpu.

Thanks
