Could you link to where you saw this distinction so we can determine the context in which AMD pro is used in comparison to AMD XP?

OH OK, there's a thread about that type of AMD PRO system in the mobo forum and here are some specs on the pro systems offered on another site

Modell "L7VMM3 v1.0C Pro2600A+"
"Pro2600A+" = mobile AthlonXP 1400+ (1200MHz) FSB266

is it possible to make the mobo or cpu a little bit faster ?

and what is the difference between the

Modell "L7VMM3 v1.0C Pro3000A+"
"Pro3000A+" = mobile AMD AthlonXP 1900+ (1600MHz) FSB200

and the

Modell "L7VMM3 v1.0C Pro2600A+"
"Pro2600A+" = mobile AthlonXP 1400+ (1200MHz) FSB266

EDIT: based on those specs I'd guess you'd be getting a 1.4ghz CPU and most likely a mobile like those, but I can't say for certain.

I would bet that for $200 less, you'd be ending up with a Duron, since mobile Bartons cost even more (slightly, I know) than the "regular" desktop Bartons. Why would they give you a better chip that costs them more money for less money?

I think they are the older mobile like my 2000+ T-bred A in my lappy or the even older Pally mobiles. Peter who is on the inside with the ECS group or SiS? says that they love to use up older stock of AMD CPUs they get on the cheap this way.

I'm not certain Duvie, Hopefully Peter who is familiar with this type of rating system will see this and enlighten us about it. I suspect this is an ECS/PC Chips tactic and not AMD themselves though since they have been doing this for a couple years now that I'm aware of. I remember PC Chips Duron permanantly welded in all-in-one boards with higher PR ratings than actual clockspeed a good 18-24 months ago anyhow.
