With the immenient prices cuts of the pentium 4 line of proc's coming soon will amd follow was looking to upgrade to my rig soon
 
That depends on sales - a marketing decision. If the glamour and performance of the 64 bit CPU sells the chip over cheaper P4's, there is no reason to cut the price. If you want AMD to cut prices, then you have to convince a whole lot of people not to buy them so AMD sees a sales drop and loss of market share. It's really an event driven business decision.

The prices for Athlon XPs such as the 2500+ and 1700+ (the mid-lowend ones) are already too low.
