I decided to post this maybe im missing something. In the past few months im seeing a lot of problems with videos on 4600G causing flickering on the lower part of the screen ... youtube, netflix, amazon prime, on browsers and their own windows apps.

After days of testing i noticed that:
-The problem starts to happens in resolutions higher than 1366x768, 1440x900 is the first resolution that shows this problem.
-The problems gets easier to notice if you open multiple youtube tabs of videos and start playing around with the timeline on one of them (as show in the video i attached), but it happens on a single video whiout any input.
-White bar flickering on Windows 10 and black on Windows 11, probably related to the theme.
-OBS screen recording does not capture the problem so the issue has to be on the display circuity
-Tested A520, A320 and B450 on multiple bios and multiple drivers
-Tested multiple hdmi cables and monitors
-Does not seem to happen on VGA
-Does not happen on the 3000G/5600G/5700G

CPU revision is RN-A1

We are talking about over 100 cases in this month for ourselves alone and im yet to find a 4600G that dosent show this problem, but one of my coworker told me he did a week ago.

I have a 4600G pc on which I sometimes watch youtube , never seen such problem and can't replicate it using your instructions.
Windows 11. Radeon driver ver. 23.11.1 , chipset driver 4.09.21.138

It is rev RN-A1?

After talking to a local AMD rep, they seem to know of some bad 4600Gs, so it may be limited to some more or less recent batchs. But im still not sure if we are talking about the same problem.
These bad ones seems to be of the last few weeks of 2023. "ED 2346PGS" for example.

Where do I check that? On the CPU IHS, or just CPU-Z?

AFAIK all Renoirs are RN-A1. If what you're looking for is related to manufacturing date or batchs then you will need something like this and tell people that can reproduce it to look for box info or even on the CPU heatspreader itself.

On AMD the manufacturing date is on the heatspreader, the ones i saw with problems go for 2346 to 2405, thats what makes me think its not a hardware problem because, 11 weeks is a hell of a lot of cpus.

Im yet to try MPO, i dont have any 4600G now, we returned them all.

I have built a home server pc with a ryzen 3 4300g yesterday. I am having display flickering when playing back videos on YouTube.

The issue is same like the OP but more prominent and frequent. The flicker is black when the yt in dark mode, and the flicker is white when yt in light mode.

Things i have tried to fix this issue,

  • Change HDMI cable
  • Resetting bios
  • Updating bios
  • DDU & clean install newer and older drivers
  • Enabling/disabling freesync and VRR
  • Set monitor refresh rate from windows to 60hz, 120hz, and, 144hz.
  • Create custom resolution with a little less hz, example: 59hz, 119hz, 143hz.
I have not been able to find any solution to this problem. Maybe the apu is faulty. It is manufactured on 11/2022

isn't Vega legacy driver status now?
I am betting it is something to do with newer windows or websites and the legacy driver. Good way to test is try booting into a linux live USB and see if the issue persists.
There are also community windows drivers for older radeons

I will try with linux mint installation pendrive and see if the issue persist. I am using windows 10 iot LTSC 21h2 on all of my devices, from mini pc to gaming pc, laptop and this newly built 4300g homeserver

Same thing happening to me on brand new 4300G, both on older versions of Windows 10 and newer. Haven't tried windows 11.

If it's Youtube playback, what browser are you using? Have you tried turning off graphics acceleration?

It's possible they nerfed some of the 4 series APUs. My Ryzen pro 2400G in Bazzite has no issue in Firefox.

No issues with my Ryzen 3 PRO 5350GE, 5400U, and 5700G machines (Cezanne). Including most recent drivers (25.8.1)

Just thought I'd share that data point. Hopefully you find a fix for this Renoir issue!

I never noticed this or any similar problem on my Ryzen 5 Pro 4650G. The browser is irrelevant, given that three browsers are used Chrome/Firefox/Vivaldi.

- 4K/60hz resolution connected to 4K LG TV

I've built many systems with 4300Gs without issues, and I would guess maybe 10x 4600G systems for which I haven't seen this issue / it hasn't been mentioned.

That maybe the case, i have not faced this issue with 3200g on same mobo, hdmi cable and monitor. Unfortunately i had to return this too. Didnt had time to check with linux. But @masiive tried with multiple version of windows 10 so i think its os irrelevant..
