When I run 2 linux SMP clients I get around 2600ppd!!

EDIT: there's something wrong with the rosetta score, update coming soon!

Philippart, while thats good for an X2 ro an AMD quad, I get over 4900 ppd with a Q6600. I am curious why you went that way.

Woah!:Q ,my Q6600 @3GHz @X1950Pro shows ~3k ppd on FaHmon.(Win XP)

Is that on your 3.6GHz Q6600? How do you get 4.9k? ,oh wait ,which OS is that on? Linux?
What did you get on Win XP?

Not knowing the Phenoms clock speed off the top of my head yet I thought I'd post them here😉.UK prices from Ebuyer (inc VAT).

Phenom 9500 2.2 GHz £150
Phenom 9600 2.3 GHz £178
*Phenom 9700 2.4 GHz
*Phenom 9900 2.6 GHz
*Q1 '08

Intel Core 2 Quad Q9450 (2.66GHz/1333MHz) £?
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700 (2.66GHz/1066MHz) £337:Q
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 (2.40GHz/1066MHz) £154

Doesn't look good for AMD 🙁........

ubuntu (linux) makes the difference, plus running two smp threads at a time. But even under win XP I was getting 3200 ppd. Yes, its my 3600 Q6600.

what do you get at stock speed?

EDIT: I'm gonna try SoB too!

I think I see now, linux+2xSMP (only good for linux?)+ 600MHz more (+20% over mine) gives you the boost ,wow that's a big difference!:Q

If it scaled perfectly from my rig then 3.6GHz would give me 3600ppd (1xSMP +1xGPU)
Was your XP score with 1 SMP client?

So Phen @2.2GHz gives 2600 ppd on Linux 2xSMP clients
Q6600 @3.6GHz gives 4900 ppd on Linux 2xSMP clients

If the Phenom could scale up to 3.6GHz it would give ~4250ppd ,but then it would have no chance of getting that high! ,& it's still behind ,I really hope AMD can ramp up their clocks speeds in good time ,we really can't afford to lose them!🙁

I have never run it at stock. Fired it up at 3600 and its been fine.

@assimilator1 : I got 3214 and used the gpu client for a while, but it was too hot and noisy and I shut it down after only one unit, but probably would have been in that range.

I should be getting my phenom up in the next couple of days... i'm just waiting for my motherboard and powersupply... then we can get a second look on a different system... but the thing is, I just run seti on my systems. I haven't gotten into running much else.
seti is good 🙂 we're still fighting to hold off china!!

I'm loading Vista64 onto it now

Phenon9500 is up and running
AMD Phenom 9500 linky
Asus M3a32-MVP Deluxe Wi/fi linky
2-Raptor 150, Raid0
Crucial Ballistix 2GB(2x1GB) DDR2 1066 linky
GIGABYTE 3D Mercury Pro GZ-FW1CA-AJB Black Aluminum ATX Full Tower Computer Case linky
Visiontek Radeon 3850 from dell
Antec TPQ-850 ATX12V / EPS12V 850W Power Supply
Lite-on SATA DVD-rom drive
Vista64

and i'm now going to town on seti and running at a cool 36C

Maybe Power Now! is active. That could be a reason for the low temps, and low scores. Just a thought.

By all the benchmarks out, it should be approx 10% faster than two equevently clocked AM2"s.

Are you sure the temp s/w is using the internal temp diode & not a socket sensor?

well... the room that I have the computer in is only 17C.... so 36C (34C now) might be a normal... I'm sure if it was summertime, the temperatures would be much higher.

I don't have any scores yet to even have a low score. And I wouldn't go by any scores on seti for this setup yet until its been running at least a few days

Hmm ,even allowing for low ambient temps that still seems exceptionally low ,what program are you using to measure temps?

Amaroque
I thought 'power now' would only power down when the CPU isn't under load? ......or am I thinking of CnQ?

Cant wait to see the results. I'm getting roughly 13M/second on a 3.19 ghz Q6600 and 12M/second on a 2.9 Q6600.

Thats by adding the output of all 4 clients btw.

I'm running at 39C for CPU and 42C for MB now with ambient room temp at 23.2C. I'm using the ASUS PC Probe II V1.04.23
I'm also using a watercooling set up too... that help keeps the temps down... I don't know if i'd want to run it with the stock heatsink and fan.

Errr yeah. Power Now! is for Notebooks, and CnQ is for the desktop.
I don't run any type of "guieting" software on any of my systems. I'm more concerned with them being cool than quiet. I also disable any quieting that is done in the bios too. I run my systems mainly for performance with out overclocking.... but I do have my opteron 175 overcloaked at a stable 2.5Ghz... I could get more out of it, I just haven't had the time to really sit down and mess with it.

CnQ is for keeping the CPU cooler (when idle) as well as quieter.

lol well water cooling explains the low temps then!😎 ,you didn't mention that earlier😛😉

BOINC has never been much good at comparing systems, RAC is averaged over how long?
(I must remember to look into finding a standard WU for S@H2).
