AMD Phenom II X6 1055T $223 shipped at Amazon PREORDER NOW

everything I had heard was a retail price of $199. Didnt think they were available in the US until the 27th

So not such a great deal, unless you really want the chip early. I didn't order one, I'm hoping that Fry's will have some kind of sale on these.

Same here, I'd love to pick up the chip at $199 and get a nice Xfire sata 6/USB 3 board for free with it. Why cant it be Tuesday already?!?

Do you think Fry's will have a deal below 199 at launch? I think its more likely to see combo deals with P II chips to get rid of their stocks.

when the i7-930 launched they had a combo deal for pretty close to MSRP, the Clarksdale chips have routinely been on combo since launch. I've only been following the adds for a short while.

They have been having a lot of AMD combos lately.

Might wanna change your title OP.

This CPU is NOT in stock as you claim it is.

It clearly says "Pre-Order"

So they dont have to honor retroactive price matching on peeps that technically didnt pre-order yesterday?....So this chip is like the other P II in that it will work in AM2+?

yes.

I have an El cheapo ECS 785g ddr2 board that just got a bios flash to support it. I think most boards could support it with a bios flash.

i'm just waiting on benchmarks. i was going to build a Phenom 955/965.. but once I found out Thuban was coming, I figured I'd wait it out.

AMD is really bringing it now. I'm a fan of both Intel and AMD, so this is a win-win for me. Cheaper prices for all of us depending on how successful Thuban is.

I can see a price war happening soon, just like what we saw in the video card market last year. Never will we be able to pick up a solid mid-range card again (4830) for $70.
