Just a quick question for those who have used them:

For non-OCing, is the stock HSF for AMD Phenom II X4 sufficient?

thanks

uh.. they wouldnt ship a CPU with an insufficient heatsink.

think about it. doing so would overheat chips.

that said, the one that came with my x4 945 is a pretty wimpy one. i imagine the fan would be rather loud.

Running one at 3.6 24/7 100%load. Not horribly loud, and not over 70c.

The heatsink included with my 4400+ 939 and the one with my 940 were surprisingly robust with copper heatpipes and an 80mm fan.
The one included with my 550 X2, however, is much smaller, all aluminum and a 60mm fan.
Can't say anything as far as how any of them performed since I put aftermarket coolers on all of them.

Yes of course if your not overclocked the stock HSF will do great.

Its when you start taking up cpu voltage when the HSF slowly gives out.

You can get away with OCing with the stock HSF just be careful of the cpu voltage you give it.

I don't like it, it's too small, if you thinking oc just get something like hyper 212+ for 30 or so. not that expensive but gives you added headroom for ocing.
