I am using the exact same mobo as I type, never had a problem with it. Seems to be getting good reviews, and it is the very first model that got press for its ability to unlock denebs back in the days. At this price, I guess there is no reason to get a Ph II 550 and hope you unlock those cores (assuming you have fry's nearby).

Wonder if I should ebay my x3 710 + TA790 and get this to replace that :)

Just got back after picking this up. RAM was soemthing of an issue though. No inexpensive 4GB kits. Any DDR3 on sale was gone.

I decided to return this because I found out the rebate company never sends the rebates, but I guess it's still a good deal without the rebate?

I have this motherboard paired with 4GB of ram and an HD4850. The only frustrating thing is that the bottom Pci-e slot is the master one, and if you have a video card with any form of exotic cooling (mine has an Accelero S1 with a 120mm fan strapped on it) it will block out both Pci slots.

Other than that it's a great overclocking board from my experience and is pretty solid. If you are going to OC, I recommend adding some heat sinks to the PWM chips though.

For those of you who jumped on the deal, which stepping did you get? Mine is C2 (HDZ965FBGIBOX). Wish it were C3, but still nice.

I got the C3 stepping on my 965 at the Fry's in Phoenix (on Thunderbird).

Had to update the Bios on the Biostar.

Poster was right, the 2x2gb A-DATA DDR3 (most affordable) @ 89.99 was out of stock, grabbed the Corsair for $109.

Got this to 4.0 GHz with a Coolermaster Hyper TX2 cooler @ 40 degrees...1.42 volts.

Pretty happy with it overall.

Got mine up to 4ghz / 2.6ghz NB @ 1.456v (as shown in cpu-z)

Haven't got around to do rigorous stability testing, but no crashes in games I play so far. Pretty happy here too :)

Not to hijack this thread, but you get better performance with the P55 mobo and i5-750 chips for about the same pricing. You can find these at fry's practically every week or other week.

And yes, I can confirm that Biostar is a shady company when it comes to rebates. I submitted a rebate for $20, but they sent me back a $10 check. WTF? At least I got something, but that's still wrong.

There may be an issue with this combination.

"I must add to this post the following extract from an email I received from Biostar tech
support who advised me that the mobo I have does not support dual power plane."

"There are only currently 3 processors that require dual power plane, but there will be others. It is something that AMD requires for certain processors to work.
Currently the x945 125w, x955 and x965 are the only ones that require it, but in all likely hood the x975 and x985 are going to need it also."
