I recently finished my first build and was expecting good things from my system:
AMD Phenom II x4 945
Gigabyte Ga-MA790XT-UD4P
G. Skill 4 GB ddr3 1333
Nvidia GTX 260 Core 216 superclocked edition
Maxtor 6l300S0 300gb 1.5gb/s HD
Corsair CMPSU 850tx power supply
Vista Home Premium 64bit

The cpu core clock is currently at 801 MHz and the multiplier is 4x..... this seems extremely low, what can i do to solve this issue? (i ran AMD overdrive and the performance settings were set at default and these are the numbers im getting)

What he said, but don't disable it. Just run prime95 or something cpu intensive while you are looking at clockspeeds to make sure it responds appropriately.

what they said... the reason for that is that if you run the processor X at the exact same voltage, if you lower the multiplier (and thus mhz) it will consume less electricity.

Is the multiplier set to 4x in the bios? If so, set it to Auto or 15x to get your proper speed.
