i got the phenom II 1100 xt 6core off craigslist for $55...he bought a fx-8320.....i asked if there was much difference,,,he did not think so, sounded a bit disappointed...i know there is not much difference.....as i was driving home, i was thinking i stole this from him . great deal in my book

I just recently made a similar switch. I had my 1100t clocked to 3.8ghz and the north bridge set to 3Ghz. At stock speeds the 8320 was outdone in quite a few tests in passmark. But once the FX was overclocked to 4.2Ghz it had out performed the 1100t in every category. In some of the tests the improvement was as much as 50%. I got the 8320 on sale at newegg and for my purposes I consider it a good purchase.

The 1100t is a very good processor but I was after some of the newer features/instructions that the FX line support.

i quess maybe the guy did not know what they sell for on ebay...one today sold for $160, plus $6 shipping...he also gave me the 8320 box and heatsink that came with it...maybe xmas was coming to me today

!!! I've been looking for an X6 at or under $75 for a long time, never seen one once...let alone an 1100T. $55 with HS/F you really did steal it.

i was just talking about this on another forum. I'd actually prefer the phenom II x6.

I've owned both... how come you'd prefer the x6?

OP, I had a Thuban at a little over 4GHz, it was a very solid performer considering how old it is. Overclock it and enjoy!

When I went from Phenom II X6 1090T (OC'd to 3.8GHz for 24/7, capable of 4GHz with a voltage higher than I was comfortable with) to a FX 8320 (OC'd to 4.3GHz), I saw practically no difference. Going from 8320 to FX 4350 I did see a difference, 4350 felt faster in some areas and took longer in other areas (like 7zip).

The Denub and Thuban Phenom II's are still a tad faster than even the Piledriver, but not by much- they're definitely much faster than the Bulldozer though.

Errm, no. Piledriver is flat out faster than Thuban. http://anandtech.com/bench/product/203?vs=697

It's a little complicated though, right? FX-8350 is stock clocked about 20% faster than the PhenomII x6 and adds 2 extra cores for many workloads, it certainly is faster, but IPC is actually quite close, and overall clockspeeds are what pulls BD/PD away.

For example, compare the PhenomIIx6 with the FX-6300 where clocks are very close and core counts are equal:

Core for core, clock for clock, Thuban and PD are extremely close. Hexcore thuban was/still-is a solid chip.

Clock for clock yes, but Piledriver can hit much higher clocks and fit more cores into the same die area.

For gaming, the X6-1100T is about neck and neck with an FX-8320. For productivity, the FX chips are better, but who cares about that, right? Pfft!

For $60, that is one KILLER chip though! Very jealous, and congrats on the bargain! 🙂

i could not believe it when i saw it on craigslist, just lucky i got it before someone eles did. i was very happy when i left after the purchase, he was too. once in awhile you can nab a good buy on craigslist.

quite jealous, I'd love one of those to drop into my AM3 socket board. I have no real reason to upgrade it to AM3+ with 8320 because it's my secondary rig
