I talked to live chat and they added the discount. Also, if you add a motherboard you get another $20 off and the UPS 3 day shipping is still free :)

Click on "combo deals" after you add the processor to your cart. I chose the GIGABYTE GA-MA790FX-DS5.

If you don't see the additional $20 processor discount, talk to live chat and tell them that there is a promotion in their recent newsletter. Give them the promo code (EMC1129CPU01, expires 12/5) and they will add it manually.

Shipping stays free! :)

If you add the GA-MA790X-DS4, it's $25 off instead of the $20 off with the board mentioned above, as well as $40 cheaper.

The GA-MA790X-DS4 board does not have dual x16 PCI-E nor can you adjust the CPU multiplier.

As far as all the reviews, people tend to forget that AMD has exceptional customer service. I remember not being happy with my Athlon 64 3200+ and AMD actually sent me back a 3700+ for my troubles.

I really don't understand all the AMD bashing I'm hearing. If it weren't for them we would have all been running P4s last generation (yuck) and it would have cost an arm and a leg.

Hell, I would even go far to say that AMD is to thank for the C2D pricing. Competition is good! :D

You can thank AMD for Intel's switch to Core and then Core 2. Only with Core 2 did Intel exceed AMD's capabilities, and then only on a smaller die (ie, new technology).

Competition is good, hopefully AMD can pull the Phenom out ahead again. The Opterons are doing just fine (different loads in servers are much better served by the Barcelona architecture).

Well, I won't bash them. 2 of my 4 active machines are AMD (Athlon 3200 Barton, and 3200 X2 939), however this generation and the next I'm going Intel.

My current workstation is an E6300 which replaced the XP, and I'm eyeing a Q6600 to replace the X2 as the home server.

Company loyalty is for suckers and Apple users (is that an tautology?).

Competition is great, and AMD is welcome to my money. They just need to develop another great product.

I don't see anyone bashing them. You're right on everything you said, I mean look at my username.

I only own 2 computers right now, an Opty 170 and an Opty 146, I had an XP Barton system as well but I'm giving it to my sister for Christmas. However, if I was building a new computer today - or even just buying a new processor/Motherboard - I'd be buying Intel.

And anyone who is buying a Phenom right now is just a fan boy who isn't buying Intel because of some rediculous bias against Intel - or because they simply don't care that they aren't getting the best processor out there. Price is not a factor this time around, you can get a quad core that exceeds the performance of any phenom for about the same or a very insignificant cost over the AMD.

Face it, just like people who bought P4 last gen even though it was hotter, used more watts, performed worse - you buy AMD today you're a fan boy. Plain and simple

Meh it's perfect for people who have am2 x2 cpus and want to upgrade to quad-core without changing their mobo.
