AMD OverDrive question

Hi, so I just got my new mobo installed and got the pieces in there new case and went to start to overclock it, but am not quite sure what to do. I've got AMD OverDrive, but I don't see anywhere I can manually up the FSB...i've heard its called something else maybe? I did the Auto Clock and at first it seemed like it was going to be okay, until about an hour in (it was up to almost 2.2ghz) it sounded different and it was only about 15% complete. This chip is supposed to be safely OCed to about 2.4 without changing the voltage or any other settings besides the FSB and i'm wondering if I should use the Autoclock? If so, I've heard you have to restart and then do it manually anyway? If not, what settings do I need to change? the multiplier is already maxed out...

AMD Phenom 9100e Quad-Core @ 1.8
4gigs ram
Gigabyte GA-MA790GP-UD4h mobo
Radeon 4850 HD

This is my first time trying to OC and so any help would be aprciated. thanks!

Hey JL,

time to fire up The Google and do some reading; the info you seek is not going to fit in a paragraph or two on the forums here.

Entire article on OC of 9100 E:

http://www.tomshardware.com/re...md-phenom-x4,1935.html

http://forums.vr-zone.com/news...-worlds-exclusive.html

http://www.firingsquad.com/har..._performance/page2.asp

http://www.yougamers.com/forum/showthread.php?t=102632

Etc....

Anyway, you can search on "9100 E overclock", or that and add your motherboard's name, or, look for an overclocking guide for your motherboard.

Looks like the 9100 E was an OEM only low power quad with a locked multiplier (from just glancing at articles linked....don't have this CPU, not an expert, your mileage may vary) so it doesn't look like an overclocking king, like some other CPUs are.
