AMD Overdrive autoclock?

I have a few questions regarding AMD Overdrive.....For one, I can't seem to get Autoclock to work? The start button is greyed out?

How effective & safe is this?

I have a Gateway DX4200-09.

Should I even bother with this program?

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I'm not aware of AOD ever working on an OEM computer because of the manufacturer BIOS ...
 
Well hey I was just wondering.... I was looking for something that safely monitors and auto clocks the system. However........ I doubt I'd see a big boost anyways.
 
Yeah you're bios limited in this case.

Autoclock on that program really sucks, just like the auto clock on ATI CC Center. You rarely find a stable setting with it and most would say you're better off overclocking through your bios anyway.

When you're ready to build your own box you'll be able to overclock.
