Hi i am currently running this system spec...
Athlon 2800+ XP
1024MB Ram
80GB Hard Drive
Radeon 9800 Pro 256 bit edition

I am thinging of upgrading the motherboard and processor but am confused weather to get a Pentium 4 3.2 Ghz or a Athlon 64 bit chip 3500+. I am going to use the computer for gaming etc. My Radeon is a APG and was researcing on the net today that there is a mother board out for AGP and PCI-E which i think i will get if i get the athlon as i can upgrade my graphics card later on to a PCI-E.
Also keep being told that athlon is better for gaming put the pentuim is 3.2 Gig, how does this work aswell lol.
Would be so grateful if someone could provide answers to all my questions. Theses questions may be dumb but i am only 16 lol. Thanks:)

An AMD 3200+, lol, is just as good, lol, or even, lol, better, than a, lol, Intel Pentium, lol, 4 at, lol, 3.2 GHz. Lol!

These days Athlon64 is almost always the better choice, except for Laptops.

Even laptops now have a Turion that gives the centrino a run for its money, and is cheaper.

AMD is the only choice for you as said. The Athlon64 3500+ you listed will blow that 3.2 P4 away in games, and it will beat it at everything else. Read the benchmarks. As for the mhz question, this has been asked and answered so many times. RESEARCH !

if you can afford it, get the athlon 64 X2 3800+ and overclock. otherwise get the athlon 64 3000+ and overclock.

werd. get the A64 3800+ even if you don't o/c (or if you could afford it). otherwise, 3500+ should be buttery smooth for games

Agreed.

OP - Get an Athlon 64, whichever you can afford. I'd suggest the 3200+ or the 3700+.

Get the A64 for all the reasons stated here and because it saves electricity with the Cool and Quiet feature.

BTW, if you are only 16 how can you afford buying computer hardware?

If you have this money, it is better to spend with girls ratter than computer ;)

BTW when people are saying 3800+ they mean the AMD64 X2 3800+ (the dual core one)

Amen to that. I thought he'd left the forums anyways.

Back on topic.
For gaming the AMD 3500+ is your better choice over the P4 without doubt.
The motherboard you're refering to is the Asrock Dual Sata II, which has AGP 8x and PCI-E 16X, and indeed you can use your existing AGP card on it and upgrade to PCI-E in the future.
I have one with an AGP X800XT, and its very stable.
Not the best board if your into big time overclocking, but still a very good buy for the money IMO.

I started work when I was 13...by 16 I had bought myself a car and a motorcycle, but computers were still too expensive (a 20MB HD was $500 then...).
