I want a fast, but more importantly a STABLE system and am wondering which processor I should choose for overclocking: AMD or Pentium? In my research, both seem to be good but I want to know if there is a consensus as to one being better. I will primarily use the system for adobe suite, web design, autocad, and gaming. I am looking to purchase one in the 2.4g range. Thanks for any suggestions!

I would say Intel if you're going to be doing multimedia stuff or using taxing software like autocad.

I'd also say Intel for AutoCAD. AMD if you're on a tighter budget.

could always get a dualie opteron setup :p

but anyways, if money's no object, get a P4, otherwise the AMD's are still nothin to sneeze at ;)

welcome to anandtech by the way ^_^

my opinion is, i would rather have an intel system if im doing lots of media encoding, however, for games and desktop use, i would rather have a high end athlon xp.
