hay im new here and i guss that you get this qustion all the time but should i buy AMD athlon xp 1900 or Intel P4 - 1.8AGHz 478PIN 512k Cache
im also buying 256drr 333mhz so wich cpu will use them better

Um.... it all depends on your preference. Read the guides on anandtech.com and take your pick. Or go to other sites and see what they suggest. I would go AMD for the price and performance. Intel for a quieter and less heat producing system.

Here's the short answer.

If you like getting a "free" 600-800MHz extra from your CPU get a P4 1.6A.

If you don't like getting a "free" 600-800MHz extra get an Athlon XP 1900+. 😀

If you like to overclock a lot or need a cool (temperature) system, go for the P4.

If you want performance out of the box, go for the Athlon.

My choice would be the P4, but only because I already have an Athlon 1800+ system. That said, I don't have enough money for another system, so it doesn't matter anyway😛

I second the athlon system
just cause
built one for my uncle a few weeks ago it lays the smack down
busts through seti packets in like 3.5 hours
my P4 1.8 takes like 4.2
heh gotta love seti

You run your 1.8@1.8? What a shame!
