I am going to buy a new >1GHz CPU, some of my friends recommended AMD and others said Intel? but what is better in your opinion and why?
 
You should really post this in the CPU/General Hardware forum. This question has been asked many times and there are so many opinions. Intel is good for some stuff, AMD for other bits.

Overall, AMD give you more performence for your dollar/pound but some asy that Intel are more stable plus the P4 gives out low heat for it's speed.
