AMd or Intel for new gaming rig?

Should i go with intel or AMD for a new gaming rig im gonna build?
im gonna build it in summer 2k3, meaning probably Athlon 64 vs. 3.06+ HT intel
so which should i go for in terms of non-oc'ed performance?
im getting a vapochill, which offers more overclocking?
and which is better for a comp about $2000 (maybe a little more, little less)?
tech question: for ocing internally (using nforce2 BIOS), do i have to use a lower multiplier, so say i do a 200mHz FSB (DDR=400) could i use a 17x multiplier (assuming i had the cooling) and reach possibly 3.4gHZ?
and does the same go for P4's and do they have BIOS overclock?
and finally, which mb (currently) would be best for a P4 (to last about 1 year)?

off the subject: radeon 9500pro or TI4200 8x (looking at albatron's turbo 64mb one) would be better until i save up to a GFFX?
thanks

To be honest this is quite premature....There is so much set to come out this would be pure speculation and likley change about 2-3 times...

Hammer may not be available in mass quantities or in affordabale quantities by summer 2003...GFX should be out but by then ATI may have one uped Nvidia again. Serial ATA may or may not start becoming a standard to go along with all that marketing crap of newer mobos. Prescott...Will it be out??? Will it have 800mhz fsb and 1mb l2 cache and be coupled with dual pc3200??? Who knows....

Main thing to consider don't play the waiting game too much cause there is always something better around the corner.....

What do you have now????

Good day. The Chip-Con prometia offers better cooling than the vapochill system. It's available here. As for the other components, a lot can happen in 6 months.

are you sure it provides better cooling than a vapochill?
and do they have window modded cases with neon lights?

and are they better performance to cost for a vapochill PE vs. Prometia high-end one?

currently my gaming machine (2 years old) is a powerbook G4, 384 ram, 9.2.2, and 8mb vram...

looking for some real gaming power for cheaper and easier expandability (no waiting 1 yr for games and hardware)
and yes, everything will probably change by maybe even march or even january of next year...im just wondering whether (as of now) AMD or Intel is better for gaming
thanks

You can buy the Prometeia Cooling Unit Without the case and then purchase your own case. In this review, the author writes:
If you're currently in a dilemma in choosing between a Vapochill and a Prometeia system, I would definitely recommend you go with Prometeia.
and
Chip-con states that you could also add your own case if you deem it's nicer than the Enlight case. You'll need to make sure that the new case has similar dimensions as the cooling unit and you'll also need to cut a whole big enough for the thermal bus to pass through. The existing casing is attached to the cooling unit by a few bolts, so it's merely a matter of removing them and placing the new case.
Considering overclocking, the P4 2.66 with Gigabyte 8INXP motherboard (avail in 1-2 weeks) would be the best.
