What are the "opterons" from AMD? I need a rundown asto where they stand performance wise against the 64 bit athlons...are the opterons 64 bit chips? help.

I am going to be doing a new build in about 3 weeks and I would like to explore my options for a chip, thanks

OK so I just looked at the comparison between the opteron and the AMD 4000+, does that mean that an opteron is better, or just as good as an x2 4000+?
 
I gave another user my opinion on the best Single core and Dual core s939 processors HERE, which includes all of the 90nm s939 cores to date.

Although being my opinion i believe it to be quite accurate.

Opterons are better at overclocking because they are made for servers. They are tested more rigorously so they are supposedly better than normal athlons.
