I have been looking into dual Opteron Motherboards. And i do not understand if the AMD 64 FX-53 is compatible with the motherboards, because they are also socket - 940.
Does anybody know if the - AMD Athlon 64 FX-53 (940) is compatible with these motherboards? - (eg- TYAN Thunder K8WE)

if somebody could please clarify this for me.

Thank You

Most FX-53's are socket 939, but any socket 940's will be compatible with Opteron motherboards. But you will need registered memory.

Does that mean i will be able to have 2 of them , since it is a dual CPU motherboard.

Nope, FX doesn't have a coherent HT link so you can only run 1. Why do you want skt940 FX though? Don't overclock? Getting a great price? what?
