Emm no, the cpu at stock is comparable to a 3600+x2. Decent buy I guess for those socket 939 folks.

First of all you are comparing AM2 to 939. An Opty 165 stock is comparable to a 3800+ X2, and when overclocked to around 2.6-2.7 Ghz its about the same as a FX-60. Some people get 3Ghz out of these, so thats about the same as current dual cored FX, I'd say?

The 3600+ and the 165 core speeds are the same but remember that the cache is twice on the 165 than the the 3600+.

awesome price on the best overall 939 chip made. mine does 2.7 on stock air and has been for over a year now. i paid over $650 for two of these at that time though. ouch.

i actually want to upgrade my system, but if i originally paid $320 for this chip and i cant even get back $100 then i dont even see the point. im runnin this one to the ground :) i wonder how long this chip will remain suitable for most modern apps. right now its still tops

I bought one a few mo's ago for $155, it's running at 2.5GHz right now, on stock cooling. I'm using older PC3200 memory and that's holding me back.

Glad I sold my 170 when I did :p Bout time prices started falling on these. Great chip, my 165 got to 2.7 on stock air.

If your looking to go dual with a 939 not a bad deal at all :)
