AMD & NV image quality comparison

@jj109
Default "Let App Decide" vs High Quality. The bug is on default, not forced settings. Force settings works (thankfully!) lol

There is no "Let App Decide" on "texture filtering - quality". There's quality (default) or high quality.

Oh god this is the pCARS thread all over again.

Better image quality was the reason I first switched to AMD around a decade ago, but since then it's balanced out to the point where it's generally a wash these days.

That said, there was the issue just this past year where the color range over HDMI was hosed on NVidia cards, iirc.

It is the default setting of the game not the driver... 🙄

It's the internet these days. You can post whatever you want - people will always believe it is the truth.

Incidentally, I can only reproduce Gregster's "defaults" by forcing AF to 0x in the control panel.

Sigh.

What is this then:

Isn't that "Let the 3D Application Decide" on by default? Thats how I remember it when I last used Nvidia card.

It's the setting under "Adjust image settings with preview" you need to change.

Set it to either "let the 3D application decide", or "use my preference emphasizing: Quality". The first one of these (3D app decides) is the default and is apparently broken.

If you'd click the RESTORE DEFAULTS button on the upper right, it would take you to "Let the 3D application decide"

which gives me this:

Why didn't you try it out yourself?

Because I don't actually own a single Nvidia card atm

Thanks for the input

But that's wrong. It's not broken.

The only way I can get things to look like the offending Titan X cap is to force AF to 0x inside advanced 3d image settings. Maybe I can slide the "use my preference" bar all the way to the left, but I haven't tried that yet.

Or yours. We only have n=2 at this point, so it's impossible to say which one is the outlier.

Really? I count at several people calling Gregster out on OcUK, and at least one other person here contradicting Gregster's results.

If Nvidia were cheating by forcing 0xAF, more people would have noticed. It looks REALLY bad and it's not like BF4 is a small game.

I must have missed that one other person, mind providing a link?

So you and jj109 both have 980 Ti, whereas Gregster has a Titan X, so at least in theory this could still be a real issue (and not just a problem on Gregsters end), but one that is simply isolated to Titan X.

I would think it is probably more likely that the problem lies with Gregster's setup and not the Titan X, but is would still be nice if someone with a Titan X could test this.
