AMD Notebook Recommendation

I'm looking at buying a desktop replacement notebook soon. I have pretty much decided to go with AMD, but am not absolutely certain.

I don't know much about the build quality of various notebook manufacturers. It looks like the two best options if I buy the computer at a store are HP and Gateway. I am looking at getting something like this: HP DV 5030

Not being familiar with notebooks, I wasn't sure if going 17" vs. 15" would be a significant disadvantage.

I'm currently looking at spending $1000-1500.
