AMD/Nforce2 or Intel/sis 655??

HI All

Im going to build a computer for my office. Looking for a ez and hopefully problem free install. I already have a ata 133 harddrive. The boards im considering are the Nforce 2 boards by either abit or Msi. The Asus p4sdx or gigabyte 8sq800 based SiS 655 boards. Or possibly the VIA 400 based Asus a7v8x. Im not interested in overclocking or playing games. Looking for a reliable, fast and stable computer that will run all software with no problems. Which one would u suggest? Is there a possibility the Kt400 board would be the fastest one out of all mentioned?

Get the Abit NF7. I personally would choose Epox's 8RDA non-plus just because I like them more than the NF7 but anything nForce2 would suffice.

Also, an Athlon system versus an Intel box woulld be better in performance due to a multitude of issues that I won't go into. AMD for business/value... Intel for gaming/rip-off
 
I have one of both -

Gigabyte SIS655 and P4 3.06
Abit nForce2 and XP2100.

If I had to pick one, excluding the obvious frequency differences on the processors, I woudl go with the SIS655 board.

Although, I am very impressed with the nForce boards.

I don't understand why so many people blindly suggest AMD withouth weighing certain things into the equation.. The best bang for buck would have to be an Nforce2/ tb1.7+.. Simply can not be beat.. But we're talking about performance bang for buck.. For stability and performance where PRICE is not an issue I'd suggest an Intel chipset (newer i845pe board or the newew chipset)... Once we get past around 2.1ghz the prices become about the same when you think about it - a 2.4b will cost you around $160 and a 2500+ barton will cost you the same. The 2.4b is very overclockable if you're looking for that while the best AMD overclockers are the 1700+ and 2100+ from what I've read.. My point is that there's no clear winner.. If price is not an issue I'd get a P4.. If you're looking for a bitchin' budget system the 1700+ is unbeatable..
