Saw the link below posted in the "HD58xx already out" topic, but thought it deserved its own topic since everybody keeps on asking when the next gen AMD video cards are going to be out.

http://techpulse360.com/2009/0...ont-believe-your-eyes/

[Update] We?ve got confirmation from AMD that the Evergreen cards are being shown this weekend, at the QuakeCon video game convention in Dallas, Texas.

The word is finally out. AMD will launch it?s much anticipated next generation graphics processors code name ?Evergreen? on September 10th; ahead of Windows 7?s launch in late October.

This has to be true since Anandtech editor Gary Key already has one sitting on his desk.

So benchmarks Sept. 10th!!!! :D

I will only know it is true (AT having a new card) - when we get the automatically generated warning from the moderators to play nice.

Ronnn do you really believe the ATI guys are going to compare nest gen to last. I won't . But What I will say. In such threads, your referring. Until the NV 300 is released there is zero reason for us to believe that Evergreen is the GPU that will face the NV300. The R600 had many many tape outs. Trying to get there R600 to be DX10 compliant. Lets not forget ATI is soon to go down to 28nm with global . It is possiable Globial will have ATIs 28 done befor the NV 300 sees day light.

So whos to say NV not have same problem with unproven New tech on pretty good sized die. On New transistor shrink . that has yet matured. Thats always a bid no no to do such things . So lets see how it plays out .

If I gonna raze the NV boys it won't be about new tech vs. old. It will be about weres the beef man show me the beef. lol!

Thats the best way . remember the R600 we can always hope . If your ATI fanbois. That way ya shouldn't get in mod trouble but it still get under the skin(NV fanbois). Me right now I am content with either ATI or Larrabee. I got 3 horses in this race unlike all others I am likeing Imagination A lot. So how do you think mods will like 4 horses that perform well . Oh ya nightmare on elm. The next year is going to be the worst in MOD history LOL. It really is going to be bad . as benchmarks will become worthless. But its going to be so exciting if ya love computing . Than to top it off its going to be software computing. Its going to be like at the beginning Dreamers can reliese their dreams threw software.

Will it be C or C++ thats the real question. Looking at major players C++ should get it , But MS is stronge with C NV likes C so who really knows . I really look for it to SNOW really hard a blizzard that could very well change everthing.

I tend to read his posts and begin imagining a person speaking it aloud.

You don't have to be rude about it.

Hey, leave the man alone!

I think he's doing it on purpose (the Forum today has a "graveyard look"!)

Nah, it doesnt get nasty until both lineups are out. I couldnt imagine dumping money into the next gen without comparing offerings.

Can't remember the last time ATI was first by a longshot... Was it the 9700 Pro? I don't remember who came out first, but obviously ATI had the better card. The 6-series and X800's were both paper launched around the same time, 7-series were ahead of X18xx's by a few months (I think I bought my second 7800GTX before the X1800XT was even launched), we all know how the 8-series went compared to the 2800s, and G200 and RV670 came at about the same time. Note: I'm not talking about refresh products here, but new generations/architectures.

Interesting turn of events really. It will be interesting to see if ATI can capitalize on being first, and how long it takes NV to answer.

Nvidia has not paid much attention to the AMD market this year at all, as far as chipsets. The last AMD card I bought was the 9700 pro also. I am pretty sure I'm jumping ship next month to AMD, even without seeing Nvidia offerings.

Not likely. (From Anandtech) This says 28nm won't be until Q4 2010, and that'll only be tape outs. I'm quite sure GT300 will be out by then.

Does anyone know TSMC's roadplan for the near future, i.e. if and when they'll do 28nm?

^_^

That's always been possible, as long as your are OK being several orders of magnitude slower then hardware. Not a single thing is going to change that this coming year :)

I don't think English is his first language. At least every time I read one of his posts that's the impression I get.

As to the OP and the link he posted. That read like a marketing blurb directly from ATI. Let's assume it's all true and that the new ATI cards will be unveiled on September 10th. What will the availability be like? Will it be in stores from Day 1, or at least within a week or two? Will it be widely available or the trickle launch? And by trickle launch, something both ATI & nVidia has been guilty of, it is where you have low yields so you stock up for launch and then trickle out batches as you get them here and there to give the appearance of availability.

This early launch seems to be strange considering all the problems out of TSMC we've been hearing for the past year.

Sept 10 launch is only for press and partners. Consumers won't be able to buy the card until a later date. It's still good news all around because the new gen cards are right around the corner :) Hopefully we can get some previews at least after the 10th.

Tough to say really... It might not run all that hot or it might be a very well designed cooling system that just funnels all the hot air out a fairly small hole.

I sincerely doubt they are launching on the 10th. The AMD guys will be doing a PR-event in London first, 8/9 september, then they prolly fly over to the US for the 10th. Either way, vidcards don't get launched during press-events. Us reviewers couldn't have our reviews up, and if we do get the cards prior to the event, then what the fuck is the event for ? :p

I still suspect they'll launch with Windows 7, maybe there just trying to keep the fans interested and on there minds when it gets here.
