AMD needs to do something to keep up with intel until the bitter end of their K7 series in order to usher in the Hammer. A 400MHz fsb wouldn't hurt but it is seemingly impractical, I believe articles on Anandtech and even places such as Tom's Hardware have predicted that there would be no 400MHz fsb for various reasons. Many motherboards support 333, many DDR chips support 333 (of which 333 is now an "official" speed as well, 400 is not), so 333 seems the logical way to go. Moving to 400 would eliminate many many many motherboards as being potential owners of a 400MHz fsb Athlon as none currently today officially support such a fsb, I believe...

Well whatever, an Athlon 3200+ will most likely be a chip targeted for the elite and be priced right out of the range of you average hardware buyer. Besides, 400MHz fsb is already available to many "3200+" owners who've taken Tbred B's and overclocked the heck out of them...
