AMD motherboard/cpu + P4 power supply = boom?

I'm buying an ATX case online. I'm confused by ads that say the case comes with a P4 power supply. My research says this is a pentium 4 power supply with 4 extra pins to connect to an Intel compatible motherboard and cpu. Is a case with this power supply going to work with an AMD nForce Sempron or Athlon system? can I just leave off the extra 4 connecters, or do I have to buy a standard 20 pin ATX power supply? Do I even understand this correctly? Thanks

The p4 connector is optional, but is used on many newer amd boards. Check your mobo, and see if it needs a 24 pin connector. You can get by using a 20 pin connector on some boards, but it depends on the power supply. Expect to spend at least $60 for a good ps. I like sparkle, fortron, antec, pc power and cooling, ocz and seasonic. Any power supply will work with both p4 and athlon boards. But check on the 24 pin requirement before ordering.
