AMD Mobo questions

Greetings,

I am curently spec'ing out my new system and had a few questions about motherboards. I normally purchased Asus brand of motherboard, but am wondering what other people out there have. I am probably looking to get a AMD 3500+ 939 pin cpu, so I was wondering where to go from here.

Are the Nvidia boards good? What about different manufacturers? What recommendations on the Asus boards?

Thanks,
CC

IIRC boards based on the nforce3 250 chipset are the best in performance out there. and talking about brand names, dunno so much. though I'd not recommend you A64 939's 'cause it's a platform so far very expensive and It doesn't provide such a big perf. leap comparing to its brother A64 s754

Your 939 boards will be more expensive, but have a few more features like dual channel RAM and if money is no object you can one day upgrade to the FX line. If price is an issue I would recommend one of the 754 boards and a 3400. You will save several dollars and not lose very much in performance. Like you I really like the ASUS boards. I have this board and it has worked great for me. It isn't the best on the market right now but it is at a very good price.

The chipsets to look for are the VIA K8T800 Pro and the nVidia 250gb or Ultra. However if you choose one of the older chipsets ie the one on my board you will be fine you just can't OC as much. However do stay away from the nVidia 150's because they where not all that good.
