Hi. I'm dissatisfied with the choices of prebuilt systems and plan on building my own. For reasons of my own I want a AMD cpu fo I need a AMD mobo (Duh). I'm primarily using the system for gaming and web surfing. Eventually it will be the hub of an in-house network. The more I read the more confused I get. Also I'm not an experimentor so I don't expect to overclock the system.

The system is to be built on the cheap and then added to. It would start with a Athlon 64 and eventually get and AM2. If I read this right I'd get a decent SLI video card and add the second in the future. I don't want the chepest system because I don't want to be caught with limited upgradability.

Recommendations are most highly appreciated.

Thanx

PS. Once I figure out a Mobo you'll see this being reposted in video, cases, cooling etc.
so please just stick to Mobo reccomendations.

You mentioned getting an SLI capable vid card and that you can add another in the future... I wouldnt recommend this, since vid card versions replace eachother so fast within a 6 mo period, that an SLI setup will only end up costing you $$$ with minimal performance gains over the next best vid card release.

To me, SLI setups are more geared towards the hardcore crowd, wanting the best of the best regardless of costs. The words SLI and future-proofing dont belong in the same sentence.
