AMD Mobile Athlon XP 2500+ question

I installed AMD Mobile Athlon XP 2500+, 266 FSB, 512K Cache, 45 Watt to Abit NF7-S v2 mobo. But the motherborad detects it as unknown cpu. Does it mean it's defective? Please help 🙁
 
no your fine there. its just that the desktop motherboard (Abit NF7-S v2) isnt 'told' to recognise a mobile cpu, because Abit obviously doesnt plan on the average person putting the mobiles in there. i have exactly the same cpu as you do and its detected as 'unknown' so your fine.
