Though it has been real fun following the recent upheaval in the market, I need to go back to reality and forget about the likes of R9 290 or 780 Ti. My card died last month and I cant really wait for the next generation cards.

What is be the price/perf king of today's mid-range graphic cards ?
Currently I am looking at :

Sapphire Radeon HD 7870 GHz Edition for 144 €

Or the slightly pricier 270x cards:

Gigabyte Radeon R9 270X Windforce 3x OC for 166 €
Sapphire Radeon R9 270X Dual-X Aktiv for 165 €
HIS Radeon R9 270X IceQ X2 Turbo Aktiv PCIe 3.0 x16 for 180 €
Asus Radeon R9 270X DirectCU II for 191 €

All of these cards have 2 GB VRAM. IIRC it will be Silver Never Settle bundle for the 7870 and Battlefield 4 for the 270x. I will be selling the game(s) either way.

At the moment I am leaning towards the 7870.

PS
AMD only 'cos I'm a fanboi (unless the price is just too good)
Price range is around 150 €

Absolutely get the 7870. That Sapphire you've linked to will perform within about 5-6% of the 270X models, and can easily be overclocked to match them, since it's basically the same card.

Also, I see no evidence that you'd get Battlefield 4 with the 270X. That certainly isn't a promotion that AMD is running in the U.S.

*coughs* Termie it was just announced :) its a toughy; seems with the rebrands they've done something to the cores to give them a little more juice.

But the 7870 is such a damn good card; with the silver package reduces price even lower....BF4 won't make that up.......if your budget is 150.....roughly.......

with some of the prices getting close 190 that's near 7950 range which would be a nice jump in performance........

If you want to stick with 150 go with the 7870.....if you're willing to stretch; look at the 7950 also.....because might be 200; but prices drop with selling the game bundles :)

What rez are you going to be running at?

Yeah the cheapest 7950 from that site is 200 €, I know it's probably a more logical choice and it would be my pick but I am asking someone to buy the card for me. Also the noise would be a problem unless I go for the even pricier model for better cooler.

I will be playing games in 1080p resolution.
