AMD MB Question...

Alright, in a little while, I'm going to buy a 1.2 GHz TBird with 256 MB of PC2100 DDR SDRAM. And I was going to buy ASUS's A7M266. However, it doesn't show up in their online CeBit showroom and, apparently, "inside" sources are saying the MB is, in fact, going to be phased out (not just temporarily, like ASUS is publicly saying). Given this and the fact that it doesn't support multiplier adjustments, would you still buy it?

If not, which DDR Socket-A MB would you buy and why? Or would you just wait for the KT266? I'm inclined to do the latter, but I've been waiting for the "next best thing" since NOVEMBER, so it may just be time to buy. Thoughts? Comments?

Oh, BTW, I suppose it's important for me to let you know that I have NO experience with overclocking and am not overly-attached to experimenting with it on my shiny new TBird. Although, no matter what, I'll probably up the FSB to its max.

Thanks a lot,
Epsilon

I would wait for the later board. I personally never buy anything first run due to the 'phasing' out thing and the lack of support. Wait for something that will be around awhile, that way you get better BIOS updates and drivers if needed.

first boards are usually less featured and less stable, they may not be any improvement at all over previous generation boards properly oc'd. I'd wait until the reviews are in
