AMD makes proffit inspite NYSE expectations;

It happens, that's why it's a prediction. At least they dont call it foretelling or something of the sort. Hell, I would have guessed the same since Spansion seems to be a bigger money hole this quarter (not to diss Spansion, it's what kept AMD alive during the lean years).

WTF is Spansion?

Spansion is the Memory Products Group of AMD. It is a joint venture with Fujitsu, and represents about 40% of AMD's income and expense.

Yes, and a nice profit the four quarters+ before that...
The thing of it is, AMD is planning on spinning Spansion off in an IPO...if AMD's share of Spansion drops below 50% (49.99% or less), they no longer show it on the books for earnings reporting.
The other thing is that Spanision has a new product that's just working it's way through the channels...it's called ORNAND (you should definately Google some info on it!) and it's a HUGE product!
