AMD KIII 450+ & MVP3-G2

I have an MVP3G5, which is exactly identical to your board, only with 2MB of L2 Cache rather than 1MB. With the newest BIOS available on the Epox website, I have been running my K6-3+ 450 stable at 600Mhz for a few months now, and haven't had any problems with it at all! I upgraded from a K6-2 500@550Mhz and have noticed a HUGE difference in system performance! I highly recommend this chip for anyone who doesn't want to (or can't) upgrade their motherboard to move to the Duron/Athlon lines of processors! 🙂

What do u want to know? I just finished setting up a K6.2-450 on the same Epox board without a problem. Slow like my grandma. It is for a 12 year old kid.

i have xa100+ and xa100 (IWILL)
i buy k6-2-450 2.2 volt 1 pcs and it works on xa100
then i buy 1 pcs amd k6-2-500 plus 0.18micron 2.0 volt
and didn't work till now

1. how can i make it work on xa100+ ?
2. can i make xa100 support 2.1 volt ?

DOES XA family support K6-2+ or k6-III+ ?

I had a bad experience with cooling. It worked great until I did not pay attention to the cooling and then I cooked the chip.
Cheers
Greg

Thanks for all the information. I am just trying to upgrade my system, but i dont want to put too much money in it. I think I am going to K3. Special thanks to Fardringle.

"Have anyone use AMD KIII 450+ on EPOX MVP3-G2 MB?"

Yes, running it right now with a Promise raid setup with 2 20 gig deskstar's. I haven't OC'ed it all. But I have had ZERO problems with it, runs great!

deddyeka:
Check the motherboard manufacturer's web site to see if there is a BIOS upgrade for your board. Most motherboards do not ship with the ability to recognize and configure the '+' CPUs... Since the '+' CPUs are technically only designed for laptop computers, many motherboards don't support them even with a BIOS upgrade, but it's certainly worth a try!
