in need of alittle help here
wifes system is lockin up in middle of games and pretty much anything

not to mention her leg closest to the case begins to sweat alot 🙂

if i reboot when she locks up and check the temps the cpu is usually in HIGH 50 to low 60 celcius
im almost sure this is ALOT of my problems

so heres my question :

What is the normal operating temps for a amd k6-2 400mhz?

i got a almost identical k6-2 450 in a differnt case and desk combo and it doesnt have these problems .

thanks guys

Because Socket7 temperature measurings are usually as inaccurate as SocketA temperature measurings (the MB manufacturers also use socket thermistors in general), your temperatures seem to be too high, especially because SS7 chips are not designed for such high temperatures as SocketA chips (I think 70-80°C for SS7 CPUs and 90-95°C for SoA CPUs).
I think a K6-2/400 shouldn't run hotter than 40-50°C according to the MB temp sensors.

While I have an AMD-K6-3 450 it shouldnt be too much different, if anything, mine should run HOTTER. I have an FDP32 (Think thats it, one of the older socket coolers w/ generic fan) and 1 80mm fan drawing in, 2 blowing out (including PS fan) and Im also using CpuIdle. During normal windows operating, my system runs about 31c, while in games it runs about 41c
