I have a four year old Compaq Prosignia 150 with a 380 MHz AMD K6-2 mobile CPU. When I had it apart to install a bigger HDD, I noticed that the CPU is socketed. This prompted me to consider finding a faster CPU and putting a little more pep into this laptop. Sure enough, Newegg has a 500 MHz "Super Socket 7" K6-2 for only $18.00. I have had virtually no experience with AMD CPUs so I do not know if there is any consequential difference between a mobile and a "regular" K6-2. I do not know if the mobile has a compatible pin arrangement with the "Super Socket 7" 500 MHz CPU I saw on Newegg. I also do not know if the required core voltage is the same (I assume the mobile is less but I have to check just in case).
Assuming the CPU I found on Newegg is not compatible, is there any source for older AMD mobile CPUs?
