AMD K6-2 450+ CPU-$49.95
-Just like the AMD K6-III+(256K cache) except with 128k Cache!
-Great upgrade for super socket 7 motherboards!
http://www.softwareandstuff.com/h.cpm.amdk62450.html

They're out of 450@600 K6-III+s. Same bios limitations should apply for both 2&3+.

Check http://picnicpc.com/s-cart/k6.html TO SEE IF YOUR MOTHERBOARD IS COMPATIBLE WITH THE CPU! PLEASE NOTE: MOST
MOTHERBOARDS NEED AT LEAST A BIOS UPGRADE FOR THEM TO WORK WITH THIS CPU!

Actually, Accubyte doesn't seem to offer the K6-2 PLUS at all, only the standard K6-2. The .18 micron 450 MHz Plus version is about 20% faster than the older .25 micron CPU at the same clock speed (at least for the Ziff Davis Media Business Winstone 2001 http://www.anandtech.com/showdoc.html?i=1406&p=2).

But the K6+ is becoming hard to find. Tiger Direct in Florida also offers the K6-2+ 450 for $45 and the K6-2+ 475 for $50 plus S&H if you don't mind dealing with a company with a really crummy resellersrating (2.8 from 80 responders).

I would be careful about Tiger Direct. Their description of the 475 sounds like the non plus version which is also the picture they show. Only the title suggests the plus.

You can get a Duron 600 for around the same and they can be clocked up to 1000 (around 90% of the performance of an Athlon as well ;)).. oh well if you're stuck to older tech than this I guess is your only option..

For those of you who are upgrading socket 7 boards, compgeeks has got K6-2 475mzh procs (older .25 micron process) for $49. - 10% with MC Exclusives + $7. for ground shipping. Go combine it with some silver GAT cds for a good deal.

I got the k6-3+ 450 from Tigerdirect - it was as advertised. I believe the k6-2+ is legit.

I know peple crap on Tigerdirect, but I got my CPU from them quickly and without a hitch - and the offer $10 of $50 using a Mastercard (offer was still valid a couple of weeks ago, but I haven't checked recently.)
