AMD hyper threading?

so i saw this ad on Craigslist, and it caught my eye, a guy has two AMD hyper threaded machines. They have an AMD 2200+ (1.8ghz) hyper threaded processors (hyper threaded being 2nd logical processor). I should have known better, but i sent an email anyways. below is his reply to me saying that AMD chips dont have a 2nd logical processor/hyper threading. Now, remember these computers he is selling are socket 462.

quote: AMD has their own equivalent of Hyper Threading. I am not aware as to the exact terminology for it, but yes, it exists. The smaller of the 2 computers shows this. The chipsets are the same, but due to the age of the motherboard in the larger of the 2 computers, it only reads it as a 1.79 Ghz processor.

AMD does not have hyper threading. They have hypertransport (a memory tech), but not hyperthreading.

The new bulldozer cores MIGHT be construed as being hyperthreaded, but certainly not to the same notion as intel's hyperthreading.

I am aware of that. i went against my better judgement on not trying to correct someone on craigslist.

It's hard to ignore people on the nternet when they're so wrong. Correcting them is an addiction I'm trying to break.

Yeah, he's full of shit.

Those processors probably were some of the first with HT1.0 (Hypertransport), so it probably is prevalent in the marketing documentation, but it's definitely not Hyper-Threading.
